How Caliber Uses AI

Caliber uses artificial intelligence to analyze dating conversations and generate coaching feedback. Specifically:

Provider: Anthropic (Claude)
What AI does: Reads extracted conversation text, scores momentum and trajectory, identifies coaching points, generates reply strategies with reasoning, and flags things to avoid.
What AI does not do: AI does not send messages on your behalf, access your dating apps, or make decisions for you.

How Your Data Reaches the AI

When you upload a screenshot, text is extracted on your device using Apple Vision (on-device OCR). The extracted text — not the screenshot image — is sent through our server to Anthropic's API for analysis. The analysis is returned to your device.

Data Handling

Conversation text is sent to Anthropic for processing but is not stored on our servers.
Anthropic's data retention and usage policies apply to their processing. Caliber uses Anthropic's API, which does not use customer data for model training by default.
We store behavioral metadata (scores, platform, reply style chosen) — not conversation content.

Limitations

AI-generated analysis and suggestions are not infallible. They reflect patterns in communication research and language modeling, but they cannot account for the full context of your relationship or the other person's intentions. Always use your own judgment.

Your Consent

During onboarding, Caliber asks for your explicit consent before sending any conversation text for AI analysis. You can revoke this consent at any time in Settings, which will prevent further analyses.
